Recent years have shown big changes in the economy of The Commune of Bytów, which basic tendency is pointed out by a private sector. Most enterprises are located in Bytów. There are over 1.500 companies- small firms dealing with manufacturing, trade and service. One of the biggest firms is Wireland- a producer of a high quality products of wire, which decorate kitchens, bathrooms, offices and shops from the entire Europe. . In machine and agricultural manufacturing specialise Bagra and PP Kołaszewski companies. Concerning metal industry, an important role play: Polmor, PPH-H Malek and PPiHU Dabew. In the field of building industry there are firms: PPMB Żmuda and PP Kopol. An important role also play: PPUH Drutex - a manufaacturer of PCV, wooden and aluminium windows, FCPK - a producer of mold bases and standard parts for injection and pressure molds as well as the die sets and standard parts for press tools; and "Kołaszewski" Bicycle Company. Gradually there has been seen exterior capital - country and foreign (FCPK Ltd - American capital, Polmor Ltd- Dutch capital).

Despite the fact we take steps to support the development, the unemployment rate in our commune still remains high, about 32 %. That is why for future investors local authorities have prepared an investing offer and they promise to be favourable and helpful in negotiations. The Commune of Bytów places emphasis particularly on pro-ecological enterprise, hence waste segregation and recycling program is being implemented. In previous years there were other pro-ecological steps taken: mechanic and biological sewage plant in Przyborzyce was built and sanitary drainage mainly on rural areas was done. The Commune sees its chance for economic development and for improving people's livelihood standard in, among other things: tourism, agrotourism and ecological agriculture.
